Consulting
We are dealing with different times in the entertainment industry these days. So many shifts and no one really knows where the future lies.
With limited projects and more and more composers, the composer market is more competitive than ever. I don’t believe it’s a time to be disheartened however, but it is a time to make sure you are positioning yourself in the best way possible. What can you do on your own before it’s time for an agent? Does an agent even make sense for you? In my 20+ years in Hollywood, the hardest thing has never been how to do a job, it’s been how to get a job. How to keep motivated in the ‘Hustle of Hollywood’. How to stay positive and not hit burnout, worst case, give up all together!
With my guided 'one on one' sessions, I will help you focus on promotion, outreach, research & goal setting.
What is your unique, authentic thing? Musical style? Personality?
What will make people remember you and make you stand out?
Website
Are you presenting yourself in the most powerful way?
Reel
Is your general reel getting the attention that is needed? Are your Top 3 tracks going to knock their socks off?Social Media
How are you promoting and sharing your passions on social media? If a director/exec was to look you up on instagram, would they be impressed/ inspired?
Outreach
Are you using the right language and strategy when reaching out to filmmakers? Do you have a weekly outreach target and tracker?
Are you getting out there? Going to composer community events. Ever dreamed of winning an Oscar? Who votes for those? Other composers. Don’t just focus on filmmakers. Hundreds of composers also get their start doing additional music, co-scoring with other composers.
Research
So you love Yorgos Lanthimos and Denis Villeneuve? Guess what? They have composers or they likely want a known name for their next project. Are you researching shorts, indie films, cinematographers, editors? Who is the next Yorgos, Denis?
Positive goal setting
Are you setting intentions, vision boarding? It may sound ‘Woo-Woo’, but what have you got to lose? Are you willing to do whatever it takes?
